Massage - Babyhood and Beyond

Infant massage is a great way for parents to bond with their newborns.  Mothers get bonding experiences through pregnancy, delivery and breastfeeding.  For dads particularly, massage can be a way to bond in a special way using touch.

A large part of the brain is dedicated to touch.  Babies first learning experiences are related to the touch and smell of their parents.  Children who have not be touched and held regularly often have stunted physical and mental growth.  Touch is vital to our survival!

What can massage do?

  • Increases the parent and child bond
  • Reduces stress hormones
  • Promotes growth
  • Improves sleep patterns
  • Provides relief of colic, gas and can improve digestion
  • Massage can be used throughout childhood and into adulthood
